Alkali and Salt Soil Seed Mix

Our Alkali & Salt Soil Seed Mix is not a pre-made mix but a list of suggested species that grow well in a salt or alkaline environment. We can blend any of the species listed below to suit your conditions. These species can turn an otherwise barren or useless parcel of soil into a productive vegitative stand. Whether your end goal is feed for grazing, soil stabilization or simply adding texure, the following species will perform well.

Generally speaking, Tall Wheat is the best performer in and salt/alkali situation. Tall Fescue and Meadow Brome will tolerate moderate levels of alkalai and will do best if some irrigation is present.

Price is available upon request and will vary based on your requirements. A good mix for most conditions can be blended for around $2.25 per pound.

The following shrubs perform well in alkali/salt soils:

  • Shadscale Saltbrush (Atriplex confertifolia)
  • 4-Wing Saltbrush (Atriplex cansecens)
  • Greasewood (Sarcobatus vermiculatus)
