Bedrock Smooth Brome (Bromus inermis) is a new improved variety that borrows parentage from “Manchar” with keen attention to selection for desirable traits. Bedrock Smooth Brome germplasm has been specifically bred for supreme palatability, reduced aggressiveness of rhizomatous growth, and high biomass production. Bedrock Brome is a great companion for other grasses and legumes.

Smooth Brome has an aggressive rhizominous root system and can be an invasive species in some areas. In the right conditions it will take over and result in a monoculture. Bedrock addresses the aggressiveness of the species and offers the following benefits:

  • Increased palatability
  • Finer stems
  • Mellowed rhizomatous development
  • Less aggressive than other varieties
