A message from Chris

Hey y’all, I’m Chris.

I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. It’s been an ongoing battle since February 2020.  It started as a mole on my head, and the latest scans show that it’s in my lymph nodes, throughout my neck and in multiple vertebrae in my back. I’ve been through multiple therapies to get control of it, but that’s proving hard to accomplish.

My biggest concern is making sure that should this take a turn for the worst that my family will be ok. I’m married to Megan, my wife of 14 years. We have 3 kids, Julianna, Faith, and Kaiko. We spent a few years in Hawaii, a few years in Manti, Utah and a couple years in Spanish Fork Utah. I attended Snow college where I received my associated degree. We moved to Oahu where I finished my degree in Sports and Exercise Science at BYU Hawaii. We had our last child there and we felt it fitting to give him a Polynesian name, Kaiko. I spent 2 years working with a strength and conditioning coach in Hawaii, and I learned a ton by having the opportunity to create training programs for the student athletes. After my degree I spent an additional year training for 24 Hour Fitness. While going to school I got into bodybuilding and strength competitions. Weight training has been a passion of mine since I first walked into the gym when I was around 10 years old.

We have settled in Ephraim. I have been with Maple Leaf for several years and I train clients at the gym in the mornings before I check in with them. Megan has stayed home with the kids while I work, as she has done the majority of the time since we had children. I always wanted my kids to be raised by us and made sure I gave my wife the opportunity to be able to stay home and do that. It’s been a blessing to say the least, but my current health condition has brought some fear. If anything were to happen in the near future I would be leaving them in a rough spot. With all the changes and sadness that comes with losing a loved one, the last thing I want them to have to worry about is how they’re going to keep a roof over their head and food on the table.
