Help us support the Timothy Family

Great Basin Seed is launching a fundraising effort on behalf of the Chris Timothy family. Chris is fighting a brave battle with melanoma cancer and his family can use all the help they can get. Your generous donation will help with medical bills and the necessities of life as Chris’ ability to work and provide diminishes.

Stage 4 Melanoma

In January 2021 Chris’s doctors diagnosed him with Stage 4 Melanoma. From Chris’s own instagram page, he writes:

“I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. It’s been an ongoing battle since February 2020.  It started as a mole on my head, and the latest scans show that it’s in my lymph nodes, throughout my neck and in multiple vertebrae in my back. I’ve been through multiple therapies to get control of it, but that’s proving hard to accomplish.”

Metastasis

Since Chris’ post the Cancer has metastasized and has spread to his organs and bones. He is currently receiving chemo and radiation treatments to combat the progression. The tumors have grown and progressed to a stage where they cannot be removed.

“I’ve learned to enjoy the views wherever I go. I’ve also met a lot of people along the way. I’ve also seen many people lose their battle, all warriors. We fight on, here’s to another year!”

How you can help

Great Basin Seed is spearheading efforts to help raise financial support for the Timothy family. Your generous donation will help cover medical bills and the necessities of life.

We love Chris and his family. We are doing everything we can to help him. We continue paying his salary as he progresses through this difficult and painful process. Chris takes as much time as he needs to see doctors, get chemo and radiation treatments, and recover. Most important, he has the liberty to take time to be with his family, all with the reassurance that he is not losing vital income.

Please join with us. Multiply our efforts by contributing to the GoFundMe we have set up in Chris’ name, or by sending a direct donation via VENMO.

A chance for generosity

A message from Chris

Hey y’all, I’m Chris.

I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. It’s been an ongoing battle since February 2020.  It started as a mole on my head, and the latest scans show that it’s in my lymph nodes, throughout my neck and in multiple vertebrae in my back. I’ve been through multiple therapies to get control of it, but that’s proving hard to accomplish.

My biggest concern is making sure that should this take a turn for the worst that my family will be ok. I’m married to Megan, my wife of 14 years. We have 3 kids, Julianna, Faith, and Kaiko. We spent a few years in Hawaii, a few years in Manti, Utah and a couple years in Spanish Fork Utah. I attended Snow college where I received my associated degree. We moved to Oahu where I finished my degree in Sports and Exercise Science at BYU Hawaii. We had our last child there and we felt it fitting to give him a Polynesian name, Kaiko. I spent 2 years working with a strength and conditioning coach in Hawaii, and I learned a ton by having the opportunity to create training programs for the student athletes. After my degree I spent an additional year training for 24 Hour Fitness. While going to school I got into bodybuilding and strength competitions. Weight training has been a passion of mine since I first walked into the gym when I was around 10 years old.

We have settled in Ephraim. I have been with Maple Leaf for several years and I train clients at the gym in the mornings before I check in with them. Megan has stayed home with the kids while I work, as she has done the majority of the time since we had children. I always wanted my kids to be raised by us and made sure I gave my wife the opportunity to be able to stay home and do that. It’s been a blessing to say the least, but my current health condition has brought some fear. If anything were to happen in the near future I would be leaving them in a rough spot. With all the changes and sadness that comes with losing a loved one, the last thing I want them to have to worry about is how they’re going to keep a roof over their head and food on the table.
