Coulters Lupine is known scientifically as Lupinus sparciflorus and is native to North America. It occurs in California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, and in Mexico it is found in Baja California and Sonora. It is closely associated with and is similar in appearance to Arizona Lupine (Lupinus arizonicus)

Coulters Lupine is an annual that grows from 20 to 40 centimeters tall. The flower is blue or purple, becoming darker with age, with a white to pink patch on its banner. It is often used in wildflower mixes and it reproduces easily from fallen seeds.
