Rancher Special Alfalfa is an economic alfalfa that is widely adapted to a variety of climates and soil types. It is winter hardy and widely adapted.
Rancher Special (Medicago sativa) is our economy alfalfa, but don’t let the word ‘economy’ fool you. Despite being a less expensive variety, Rancher Special is a great alfalfa suited to a wide range of ecosystems in the lower 48 states. It will perform in all climates except very wet topic areas (like Florida, the Gulf Coast and South Texas) and very hot arid areas. It is widely adapted to a variety of climates and soil types. It is deep rooted and moderately drought tolerant. It is best adapted to well drained, deep soils with a pH range of approximately 6.4-7.3. Rancher Special is very winter hardy.
Rancher Special is cleaned, tested, coated and treated to the same exacting standards as our other alfalfas.
