TapIt Hybrid Brassica
- Fixes compacted soil up to 36 inches
- Improves poor water infiltration or waterlogged soils
- Excellent for prepping ground ahead of corn, soybeans, wheat, and other crops
- Enhances cover crop mixes
- Builds long-term soil structure and adds organic matter
Break Through Compaction Not Around It
Traditional daikon radishes hit hardpan and stop.
TapIt™ Hybrid Brassica (developed by GO Seed) was bred to do what daikon radishes can’t and drives through compacted soil layers. TapIt makes a real, measurable difference in the structure of soil by having a strong taproot that can grow up to 36 inches in just 28 days. It is among the fastest elongation rate of any crop.
Taplt improves the structure of the soil, which gives future crops better access to water and nutrients. This makes them more resilient and increases their yield potential. The core left behind by the decomposed root makes it easier for water, fertilizer, and air to get into the soil. This increases microbial activity, which helps the next crop.
Why TapIt™ Stands Out
True Compaction Busting Power
Unlike the standard daikon radishes that deflect or bulb at compaction layers, TapIt’s root penetrates dense soils down to the hardpan. This creates vertical channels for water, air, and roots.
Biological Aeration
As the root decomposes, it leaves behind natural spaces for:
- Water infiltration
- Nutrient movement
- Microbial activity
- Faster Growth of Crops
TapIt is one of the fastest elongating cover crops available, delivering visible results in weeks.
Higher Seeding Efficiency
With 135,000 seeds per pound (nearly four times that of a daikon), you get significantly more plants per acre compared to daikon radishes.
Mix-Friendly Leaf Canopy
Its upright leaf structure allows for higher seeding rates without shading out other species in a mix, making it ideal for diverse cover crop blends.
Tolerates Sub-Freezing, Heat and Drought Conditions
Long-term tolerance for freezing temperatures. Capability to withstand heat stress caused by high temperatures and/or insufficient water supply. Ability to withstand periods of limited water availability. Can also tolerate low-fertility soil and partial shade.
Soil Health Benefits
TapIt™ isn’t just about breaking compaction, it’s about building better soil from below the surface first.
- Compaction Relief: A deep taproot breaks up dense layers of soil.
- Nutrient Recycling: Collects and stores nutrients for crops in the future
- Weed Control: Fast canopy keeps weeds from growing.
- Erosion Control: Keeps topsoil safe and helps water stay in the soil.
- Water Management: Improves drainage and infiltration
- Microbial Boost: Encourages biological activity in the soil
